day 236

Moon sand is an OUTSIDE activity.

day 235

Madeleine wrote a book for a project at school, and then I was supposed to take pictures of her acting out a scene from each page in the book. Its a silly story about a bunch of things she's taking to school in her backpack, so this is her acting out putting a 'madame' in her 'sac a dos'. I also had to take pictures of her putting a house, a teddy bear, and a number of other things in the backpack.

I sent all the photos to her teacher this week, I can't wait to see how it all turns out.

day 234

Cecily and one of her teammates playing the field, at ball practice yesterday. And doing a bang-up job of it, too. I think that's my nephew on second base.

day 233

Madeleine hitting the ball at ball practice.

day 232

Annique at the ballpark, watching the boys play this time.

day 231

Third (and final) seventh birthday party - at the lake with grandma and her cousins. This was also my best effort at the giant cupcake birthday cake.

day 230

My first lake sunset picture this year - I'm sure there will be many, many others. I have a bit of an obsession.

day 229

Making fruit salad with grandpa is HILARIOUS.

day 228

Ok, so I didn't take this picture - but its my first ultrasound picture of baby #4. Looks like an alien playing peek-a-boo, exactly how babies should look at 11 weeks gestation, which is perfect. I saw a little heart beating about 175 BPM, and so that put my own heart at ease quite a bit.

day 227

More baseball - I've been at the ballpark every night this week, and my kids aren't even playing! This is some action at second base, at a 10 and under girls' game.

day 226

PLAY BALL!!! This is our high school team playing on the brand new ball diamonds behind our house. The local athletics club has been working hard the last few years to raise money and build the new backstops and fence. Now, the grass is coming in really well and the weather has been just perfect for baseball. With the trees and the valley in the background, its a going to be a great-looking ballpark.

day 225

And, so today there's the basement and a big pile of dirt. You can see the back of our house behind the trees in the corner.

day 224

Ground-breaking! Today they started digging the basement for our new neighbors. Serge's sister and her husband are building their new house right behind ours.

day 223

The crafts/party favors are dry and ready to go. The purple sailboat is Annique's, because nobody could convince her that she couldn't make a craft, too - and she wouldn't color hers with washable markers, or tempera paints - she had to use the craft paints and glitter like everyone else. Because she's seven, not two.

day 222

Somebody went to a lot of trouble to rip down the new chain link fence by the speed bump last night. Its no accident when you have to run at it at least twice, because the other half of it is torn out on the other side of the road. I sincerely hope they scratched the shit out of their vehicle.

I understand it pisses people off that they have to stop at the stop sign, and slow down when they're coming into town, but my kids LIVE here, and play here, and I want them to be able to continue to do so. They're not the only kids on this street - and there's a ball park and a soccer field on the other side of the road.

day 221

Birthday #2 - we invited 8 of her friends over for a girl-party. They dressed up, made a craft, danced around the livingroom, played games, ate hotdogs and birthday cake, opened presents and went home. A 2-hour whirlwind of activity! We are SO not ready for sleepover birthdays. Not even close.

day 220

Birthday #1 - today is her actual birthday and since she's old enough now (SEVEN!) to notice numbers on the calendar we had some cupcakes and presents at memere's house.

day 219

Today was an early Mother's Day because tomorrow is another special day - these are the best years because I always get handmade presents in homemade wrappers with hand-written notes. And some flowers, don't forget the flowers.

day 218

First unofficial belly shot at about 10 weeks. I noticed while soaking in the tub that my belly makes an island, so I suppose that could be evidence that its getting bigger. I will not say whether or not its actually been that way for the last two years. I refuse to have noticed.

day 216

Starting up a game of Disney Princess Monopoly after school. The 'Monopoly' part comes when their little sister gets involved.

day 215

Old-school scrapping - due to a printing screw-up at Wal-mart, I actually had to print these birthday invitations myself, which is part of the reason why I decided to finally get a printer. Anyway, I also had to dig out my box of scrapbooking supplies to get some cardstock and my paper trimmers, and some glue. I kind of remember how to use all of that stuff, but I sure don't miss it!

day 214

I finally bought a new printer today. I just want a cheap printer, something that - you know, PRINTS. Why is it that I could buy two new replacement cartridges for my old printer for about $70, or for $69.95, I can purchase a whole new printer, that contains two full, new cartridges? Am I really supposed to believe that all of the plastic, wires and technology in a printer is just a life-support system for the all-important ink, which is worth $35 a cartridge? There is something wrong with this world when printers are as disposable as Bic lighters.

This particular printer uses $20 cartridges. Small victory!

day 213

She had a bad scrape on the knee today - requiring not ONE, but TWO band-aids.

day 212

First weekend at the lake this year - I'm still feeling pretty sick and tired so I didn't take a lot of pictures. The water level is really low and it was cool and windy for most of the weekend, but it was still so good to be back there.

day 212

day 211

The playhouse has shingles! And windows!

day 210

A sure sign of spring - the studded tires are finally off the van.

day 209

Another blast from the past - my high school ring. Nevermind when I graduated or how old that makes me, now. It still FITS, unlike anything else I wore when I was 18.

day 208

My friend is getting ready for her new baby and is convinced she's having a boy, so she returned a little bag full of brand-new baby girl clothes I gave her when she had her daughter. My girls couldn't believe they used to wear these outfits when they were tiny. Cecily's modelling a little pink flowered romper that a friend gave us - it was always my favorite when she was first born, we rolled up the cuffs and sleeves to fit it on her. Annique's got this yellow fruity number that my mother-in-law gave her when she was born, it fit her for about 2 weeks. Madeleine is showing off the little outfit I picked out for her before she was born - it was supposed to be her 'coming home' outfit but was actually much too big for her to wear until she was a few weeks old.

Awww, that was fun!

day 207

My feeble attempt to do an 'ordinary object - interesting perspective' challenge with a crocus. How many perspectives can there be? At least you can see how fuzzy it is.

day 206

Picking crocuses - the first flowers we see in the springtime, they grow up on the hills. I remember my parents taking me to the valley to pick crocuses when I was young - fuzzy light purple little flowers. We'd keep them in teacups in the kitchen.

day 205

Best $10 ever spent - if you look closely you can see the babysitter taking my two oldest daughters and my nephew to the park for an hour or so. I'm just so exhausted these days and I'm used to being able to have a little rest in the afternoon if I need it but on the weekend with all the kids home all day - there was no hope in getting the baby to nap, let alone grab a few minutes to myself.

So there they go. And I actually got to sleep for 40 minutes!

day 204

Our monthly 'Ladies' nights' are more often than not "Ladies and babies nights' - there's another baby crawling around the floor and one more on the way in a few weeks - then two more coming this fall. Maybe next year about this time we'll really be able to get to get out without the husbands OR kids. Its a much-needed night out and as long as the babies aren't repeating what they hear - its all good.

day 203

I went to my friend's house for coffee this morning. Her son is cute as a bug.

day 202

My take on an 'ordinary object, interesting perspective' photo challenge. This week's item was a remote control, and my perspective is, "Oh, *!@$!!!' Its no accident that The Big Comfy Couch is on TV.

day 201

The hot water heater broke down, and the plumber was busy so he left us with the part (a thermo-couple??) and some instructions that said clearly on the front that they were written for a professional installer to follow. So we had our expert read over them for us.

We did manage to install it, with or without her help.

day 200

All three girls cuddled up in the recliner, watching a movie. Funny, from this angle it looks like they all have the same hair color, though most people would say the oldest two are blondes and the youngest has brown hair. Maybe its the blue vs. brown eyes?

day 199

More playhouse progress

day 198

And now it has a roof - looking more like a playhouse.

day 197

So he said, I think I'll build the girls a playhouse. This subject has come up about seven hundred times the past few years, and I'm in no shape to put up much of a fight. But to my great surprise, there seems to be a playhouse-type structure being built in the backyard.

day 194

This can be day 194, 195, 196 etc. I'm really not feeling good at all these days. The cat loves the company, though.

day 193

What a beautiful day!! We took the kids to play at the park for the afternoon - nice, sunny short-sleeved weather. We rolled up our jeans and took off our socks and shoes. I even got a little sunburn - I never think of sunscreen in April!

day 192

My daugther and nephews in the parking lot, just before we went in to the Wiggles concert.

day 191

Mural progress - I swear a week or so ago, this was a blank wall with some photos and papers taped to it. I heard she had started working on a background so I stopped in to see how its going - and, wow! She's been busy! It looks fantastic!

day 190

The quad has its oil changed, and is all cleaned up and ready to go for spring. Or, wait - maybe its for sale. Or something. I can't imagine why he'd have the gun case on there unless he was taking a 'for sale' picture..... I'd better find out.
